Interfaces 2021, 13, 27, 31898–31909) – Historically, polythiophenes have been used in electronics for their solution processability, their microstructural organization and good hole transport properties. In this study it was shown that alkylthio side chains in polythiophene semiconductors has a positive impact in OFET devices when it comes to molecular conformation, morphologies, structural packing, and charge transport.
P3ATT’s have lower regioregularity but better aggregation ability and compact molecular packing. If you add an ethylhexylthio branched side chain you can achieve improved crystallinity and efficient charge mobility for your devices.
